Description:
The Registered Nurse in the OB Department provides direct andindirect patient care. He/She applies the nursing process to planand implement the care of patients, including patient and familyeducation and continuum of care planning. The Registered Nurse mustpossess good communication skills and must be able to effectivelycommunicate with physicians, peers, patients and families. He/Sheworks collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team toensure quality care is delivered. The Registered Nurse working inthe OB department will care for various types of patients includingbut not limited to antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn,GYN surgery patients. Essential Functions Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs ofthe patient. Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcareprofessionals to provide care to the patients. Establishing, reviewing, revising and following the patient plan ofcare Administering medications and treatments within the scope ofpractice for a Registered Nurse Recording patient care activities including assessment,reassessment, and ongoing treatment notes within the patient’smedical record. Using a variety of computer systems Operating medical equipment used in the care of the patient Providing patient and family education related to treatment,diagnosis, medications, discharge and self-care. Providing patient care following nursing standards of care in amanner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients,and promotes heath and healing. Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English. Must possess the ability to work under pressure, to adapt quicklyin changing situations, to function dependently and independentlyand to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a varietyof settings. Unit specific duties as assigned. Non-Essential Functions Accepts all call schedule as directed. Complete all assigned education in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Minimum Education Associates Degree in Nursing is required. Bachelor Degree in Nursing is preferred.
