The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department provides directand indirect patient care. He/She applies the nursing process toplan and implement the care of patients, including patient andfamily education and continuum of care planning. The RegisteredNurse must possess good communication skills and must be able toeffectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients andfamilies. He/She works collaboratively with all members of thehealthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered. EssentialFunctions Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition andneeds of the patient. Consulting and collaborating with physiciansand other healthcare professionals to provide care to the patients.
Establishing, reviewing, revising and following the patient plan ofcare Administering medications and treatments within the scope ofpractice for a Registered Nurse Recording patient care activitiesincluding assessment, reassessment, and ongoing treatment noteswithin the patients’ medical record. Using a variety of computersystems Operating medical equipment used in the care of the patientProviding patient and family education related to treatment,diagnosis, medications, discharge and self-care. Providing patientcare following nursing standards of care in a manner that promotesexcellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients, and promotes heath andhealing. Standards of Performance Qualifications:
Job Requirements Minimum Education Must possess an active TN RN license or a compact state licensewith the intent to obtain a TN RN license within 30 days of hire.
Required Skills Must have current BLS within 90 days of hire date. Must obtain ACLS within 90 days of hire date. Must obtain PALS within 90 days of hire date. Must obtain HWC within 6 months of hire date
