Unit:

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN provides specialized care for patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and treatment. This position bridges the gap between the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and general medical-surgical care, focusing on patients who are stable but require close observation, advanced monitoring, and ongoing nursing interventions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Care:

Provide direct and individualized care to patients, including administering medications, managing IV lines, and monitoring vital signs.
Perform advanced assessments and interpret diagnostic results to anticipate changes in patient conditions.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on patient needs.

Monitoring and Reporting:

Utilize telemetry and other advanced monitoring tools to observe cardiac rhythms and other critical data.
Identify and respond to acute changes in patient condition, escalating care as necessary.
Document patient progress and communicate findings with the healthcare team.

Collaboration and Advocacy:

Coordinate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other multidisciplinary team members to deliver cohesive care.
Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and discharge planning.
Advocate for patients to ensure a safe, respectful, and ethical care environment.

Compliance and Safety:

Adhere to facility policies, nursing standards, and regulatory guidelines, ensuring patient and staff safety.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medications, equipment, and procedures relevant to progressive care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safety protocols.

Leadership and Professional Growth:

Serve as a resource and mentor for new staff or nursing students as needed.
Pursue continuing education opportunities to maintain competency in progressive care nursing practices. This role is ideal for RNs who thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and are passionate about providing high-quality care to patients with complex medical needs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Current and Valid License as a TN or Compact State Registered NurseRequired
• 1 Year of Related ExperiencePreferred
