Job Summary:
Under general direction, supervises the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care. Coordinates services with other patient care units and provides direct patient evaluation and nursing care as necessary. Ensures adnce to hospital and department policies, nursing policies, standards and practices in the assigned work area.
Essential Functions:
Observes professional ethics in maintaining confidential information concerning the financial, personal, medical or employment status of patients/families at LRH
Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital
Must report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action
Participate in safety instructional programs
Directs patient care activities
Schedules staff to ensure full coverage of patient care needs and to ensure effective patient services
Supervises personnel, which includes recommendations for hiring, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution
Participates in program development and in development and implementation of operating policy and procedure
Oversees and provides direct nursing evaluation and/or related care and consultation to patients as required
Coordinates services with other patient care units as required; maintains communication with allied health services and maintains community liaison as appropriate
Oversees compliance to regulatory and accrediting agency’s standards by nursing staff
Oversees departmental compliance with all Core Measure indicators
Serves as Administrative representative while performing duties
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes workplace safety
Performs patient care duties on the unit serving as a team member of the acute care staff
Demonstrates knowledge of disaster plan and role as supervisor
Must have 12 hours in service education per calendar year
90 day evaluations for staff must be completed and sent to H.R. within 100 days of hire/transfer
Intervene when conditions threaten life, health or damage to equipment or building
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor Degree in Nursing, preferred
RN
Certification:
ACLS Certified
BLS Certified
PALS
NRP
License:
TN State Licensure for Registered Nurse
Experience:
Previous experience, required 3 years in Nursing and 1 year in Nursing Management
