POSITIONREQUIREMENTS

Formal Education /

Training:

1. Licensed by the State ofTennessee.2. Graduate of an approved school of nursing.3. BLSwithin 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:

Patient CareDeliveryEquipment and Skills Training:

The ability to work wellunder pressure, to function dependently and independently and to beflexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety ofsettings.

Equipment:

Order Entry Computer System; Telemetry;AT&T Language Line; Omnicell Medication System;

PhysicalEnvironment:

A medical/surgical unit with patient population rangingfrom less than one year of age> ninety-nine years ofage.

Physical Effort:

1. Requires the ability to communicate inEnglish orally and in writing.2. Requires prolonged standing andworking for up to twelve hours a day.3. Required to push/pullobjects up to 175 lbs.4. Requires the ability to lift and turnpatients with assistance up to 250 lbs.

PERFORMANCE

STANDARDSRevisesthe patient’s care plan on an individual basis, identifyingproblems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice,interventions consistent with identified problems and attainableoutcomes.

Assists with patient teaching, discharge and postdischarge needs as appropriate for patient population.

Functionsindependently with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriateto areas evidence by adherence to policy, procedure and competencybased assessment and no pattern or trend ofproblem.

Handles/transports/stores/prepares/administers/solutionssafely in accordance with hospital and departmental policies andproceduresMonitors and reports patient’s condition, evaluatepatient response to treatment and modify plan of care appropriatelyand in a timely manner.

Documents accurately and timely.

Maintainshealing and therapeutic environment for the patient andfamily.

Maintains position specific qualifications.

Facilitates staffdevelopment.

Demonstrates responsibility for assignedcommunications.
