Job Summary :

A Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN)provides specialized, critical care to critically ill or injuredpediatric patients. PICU RNs are highly skilled in managing complexmedical conditions, including acute respiratory distress, traumaticinjuries, post-surgical care, and life-threatening illnesses. Theywork collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliveradvanced, patient-centered care and ensure optimal outcomes forcritically ill children.

Key Responsibilities :

Provide intensive, specialized care to pediatric patients withlife-threatening conditions, including respiratory failure, organfailure, and postoperative complications. Monitor and assess patients’ critical conditions, includingvital signs, cardiac rhythms, and respiratory status, usingadvanced monitoring equipment. Administer medications, treatments, and interventions specificto critically ill pediatric patients, including mechanicalventilation, IV therapies, and pain management. Collaborate with intensivists, pediatricians, and otherhealthcare professionals to develop and implement individualizedcare plans. Perform advanced procedures such as intubation, central lineplacement, and hemodynamic monitoring. Educate patients, families, and caregivers on complex medicalconditions, treatment plans, and strategies for care at home. Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and familiescoping with acute and life-threatening illnesses. Maintain accurate, thorough documentation of patientassessments, treatments, and outcomes, adhering to clinicalstandards and regulatory requirements. Monitor and respond to complications, such as respiratorydistress, sepsis, and hemodynamic instability, ensuring timelyinterventions. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, clinical meetings, andquality improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery. Provide family-centered care, supporting parents and caregiversin navigating their child’s critical health needs.

Qualifications:

Education :

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred;Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.

Licensure :

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state ofpractice.

Certification :

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificationrequired. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificationpreferred.

Experience :
