Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing processin accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Willbe responsible for selecting, preparing and placing instruments andsupplies in a specified order. Scrubbing for procedures as a scrubnurse/scrub tech/assistant. Will be responsible for identifying,disassembling, decontaminating, inspecting, assembling andprocessing of all reusable supplies and patient care equipment usedin the hospital.
Reports to:
Director Surgical Services Performsplan of care intervention, including medication administration,specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medicalcare treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records,and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team,physician, patient, and family. Collaborates as needed acrossdisciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer,discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,and circumstances. Practices strict adherence to sterile techniqueand equipment instructions to avoid infection of patient and selfcontamination of equipment and supplies. May assist withPre-Admission Testing, Interventional Radiology Nursing Care andCardiographics as needed with competency completion.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree or RN Diploma required. RequiredSkills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriate action.
RequiredSkills American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire or must be obtainedwithin 90 days of employment, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support(ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 12months of employment Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) required within 12 months ofemployment Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) preferred Minimum Work Experience One to two years OR experience preferred; on-call will be requiredRequired Licenses Registered Nurse Current TN or Multi-State RN licensure
