- Position SummaryProvides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursingprocess of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural and needs ofthe patient and family. Communicates effectively with all membersof the health care team as appropriate about changes in thepatient’s condition or response to treatment.

Director of Emergency Services Responsibilities of thePosition Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients andreassessments as per policy. Adequately assesses and reassessespain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates thepatient and family regarding pain management. Performs patient careresponsibilities considering needs specific for the patient’s age.
Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correctadministration based on the age of the patient and the patient’sclinical condition. Follows the 6 rights of medicationadministration to reduce the potential for medication errors.
Formulates, implements, and revises the patient’s plan of carebased on the patient’s diagnosis and clinical symptoms. Formulates,implements, and revises the patient’s educational plan. Assistsphysicians with procedures and performs services requiringtechnical and manual skills. Performs treatments and providesservices to the level of licensure. Performs all aspects of patientcare in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reducesthe likelihood of errors. Coordinates and supervises patient care.
Meets current documentation standards and policies. Treats patientsand their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresspsychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs ofthe patients and their families. Communicates clearly andprofessionally with all members of the health care team. Notifiesphysicians in a timely manner of changes in the patient’s conditionand response to treatment. Maintains a good working relationshipand treats others with respect within the department and with allother hospital departments. Manages and operates equipment safelyand correctly. Educates patient and family on disease process.
Follows all evidence-based medicine and core measures as supportedby Maria Parham Health. Utilizes supplies and resources in acost-effective manner. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Associates degree in nursing is required.
Certifications/Licenses A current North Carolina or compact statedRegistered Nurse (RN) license is required upon hire. Basic LifeSupport (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) isrequired within 30 days of employment. Advanced Cardiovascular LifeSupport (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) arerequired within 6 months of employment. Handle with Care (HWC) isrequired within 6 months of hire. Required Skills Critical thinkingskills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimalsupervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment andtake appropriate action. Minimum Work Experience 1 year ofexperience in a health care setting is preferred.
