- One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN
- Current Valid RNlicense in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLSCertification (AHA/ARC)
- Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN)Certification
- NIHSS Certification
- Other certifications andlicenses may be required for this position
Summary:
A StepdownRegistered Nurse provides care to patients who are transitioningfrom intensive care to medical-surgical or general inpatient units.
These patients require frequent monitoring and specialized nursinginterventions. They assess and manage complex patient needs,administer medications and treatments, and collaborate withmultidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient-centered care.
Essential Work Functions:
- Monitors and interprets cardiacrhythms, vital signs, and other telemetry data to detectabnormalities and respond appropriately
- Administers prescribedmedications and treatments in accordance with approved nursingtechniques, with a focus on cardiac care
- Prepares equipment andaids physician during cardiac-related procedures and examinations
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetrypatients
- Observes patient, records significant conditions andreactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient’scardiac status and response to interventions
- Responds tolife-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies,procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies
- Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assignedtelemetry patients
- Initiates patient education plans according toindividualized needs, focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, andlifestyle modifications
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinaryteam to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients
- Maintains confidentiality of patients and client
- Performs otherduties as assigned within the scope of practice
- Adheres tohospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, andregulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
- Criticalthinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communicationskills
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the Englishlanguage
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, followverbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- PhysicalAbilities
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, moveabout, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
- Interpersonal Skills
- Must be able to work effectively with avariety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present apositive attitude and professionalism
- Technical/Motor Skills
- Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation,push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/orusing department equipment

- Must be able tocope with frequent contact with the general public and customerswhile meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work underclose supervision occasionally, as well as working withoutassistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend withirregular activity schedules occasionally and continuousconcentration to detail
