Job Summary The ETSU College of Nursing, Tennessee Center of Nursing Advancement, is seeking a full-time Nurse Scientist to join our team. The Nurse Scientist is an operational research position, guiding the entire trajectory of research from protocol development and helping with ethics review to operational implementation in facilities seeking to improve recruitment and retention along the pipeline of nursing. The individual who holds this position will develop and advance the Tennessee Center for Nursing Advancement (the Center), which aims to improve nurse recruitment and retention of nurses along the entire pipeline within the Appalachian Highlands and the State of Tennessee. Work will be carried out in a team setting, collaborating with the Center’s team. This position will oversee at least two (2) regions within the Center’s purview: West Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, East Tennessee, and/or Appalachian Highlands. The Nurse Scientist will lead and collaborate with the Center team and facilities within their assigned regions on research and workforce projects, programs, policy development, and analyses. The Nurse Scientist will be researching one or more of the strategic areas of the Center, including research development, execution, strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation, as well as policy analysis, innovation, data management, and providing recommendations. The Center will pay travel expenses after approval and in compliance with ETSU’s travel policies. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Ability to find and disseminate statistical analysis and scientific writing, that is understandable to someone who is not trained in statistical verbiage, such as legislature, public communities, students, and healthcare workers.
Knowledge and skill in studying constructs related to health and operations of healthcare; community analysis and program planning and execution; innovative approaches to healthcare delivery; evaluation of community-based organizations.
Knowledge of and experience with care systems and interventions.
Knowledge of translational science with the ability to analyze problems, formulate solutions, and recommend policies, legislation, procedures, change projects, and programs. Required Qualifications Doctoral degree in nursing or a relevant field may be considered (i.e., information technology).
Trained in and/or experience in: research design/methods, program planning and evaluation, and operational implementation. Preferred Qualifications Doctoral degree in nursing or a relevant field may be considered (i.e., information technology) with experience in successfully developing a workforce center and successful workforce collaboration skills/research implementation.
Ph.D. is highly preferred, but a DNP will be considered with proper experience in research, data management, and application of findings.
Experience with Interprofessional education and clinical implications. Familiarity with data structures.
Interest in designing/developing effective interactive data-based mediums for finding and disseminating facts. Salary based on experience
