The registrar staff is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the front desk making sure the center runs smoothly, via phone messages, faxes to physicians, staff, home health agencies, extended care facilities, etc. The incumbent is responsible for providing the full scope of reception and administrative office support services to the practice including and not limited to data entry, insurance authorizations, greeting and directing patients. 1. Greets and directs visitors/patients courteously and professionally 2. Answer phones and routes calls to appropriate staff 3. Schedule patient appointments, follow-up and consultations from referral source 4. Responds to requests for routine information or assistance within scope of knowledge and authority and refers visitors to appropriate staff members as necessary. 5. Initiates calls as requested by physician or other professional staff. 6. Obtain insurance information and verification as required 7. Coordinate patient ancillary service testing with other hospital services 8. Assemble new patient charts, maintain and file existing patient charts. Spot check for completeness and signatures 9. Initiates ordering of office supplies ensuring all supplies are distributed upon receipt and kept in their designated areas. 10. Demonstrates ongoing commitment to customer service excellence and supports the customer service plan. 11. Practice and adhere to Stamford Health’s “Code of Conduct” philosophy, Standards for Service Excellence and organizational values of: Teamwork, Integrity, Compassion, Respect and Accountability. 12. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. 13. Complies with departmental organizational policies and procedures and adheres to external agency requirements. 14. Performs other duties as assigned. 1. High School Diploma or equivalent required with a minimum of 1-3 month of related front office customer service experience required. 2. Demonstrates strong interpersonal and organizational skills. 3. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written English proficiency required 4. Ability to function independently with minimal supervision within the scope of knowledge and authority of the position. 5. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) preferred 6. Solid phone/customer service skills. 7. Knowledge of office equipment operation (hospital computer system, telephone system, fax machine, copy machine, etc.) 8. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. 9. Ability to perform complex administrative tasks. 10. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and at times hectic environment. 11. Careful attention to detail. 12. Ability to work both in a team and independently.
