This role requires a dependable individual who is sensitive to the confidentiality of student health information and familiar with front office procedures in a healthcare setting. Essential Functions 1. Greets patients and establishes them as patients in the electronic medical records (EMR) which includes: scheduling appointments, verification of insurance, submitting insurance referrals, immunization compliance, financial responsibility forms, update Patient History and scanning updated insurance cards, vaccines, and medical records into the patients EMR system. 2. Provides general information about the student insurance plan benefits, enrollment, and waiver process. Appropriately refers students to Academic Health plans for assistance with waiver and enrollment. Verifies Insurance billing in Colleague and waiver status in the waiver system in Cares 26. 3. Submits patient referrals to office site providers to SHIP referral system 4. Verify student billing and credit of the SHIP plan. Appropriately document information provided to the student regarding SHP and immunization requirements to release or advance health holds in Colleague. 5. Reviews, scans, or appropriately disposes hard copy health records, by shredding older than 7 years and verifies lifelong retrieval of immunization records in the EMR system. Qualifications/Requirements High school diploma or GED is Required. Vocational or technical training in Health Care, Medical Assistant or related field is preferred. 1-3 years of work related experience is required. Collaborative service with the Student Insurance company Social Justice appropriate medical referrals to community resources. Decisions may affect a work unit or area within a department. May contribute to business and operational decisions that affect the department. Work progress is monitored by supervisor/manager, incumbent follows precedents and procedures, and may set priorities and organizes work within general guidelines established by supervisor/manager.
