JOB SUMMARY
In this position, your primary responsibilities revolve around customer service. A patient representative serves as the first point of contact for patients when they enter a medical facility. They greet and check-in patients, get patient information, collect payments, assist with necessary paperwork, and fulfill other customer service or administrative duties. Our perfect candidate has prior experience, preferably in a medical office, and is familiar with medical terminology.
RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Welcome and direct patients.
- Assist patients with paperwork.
- Manage patient complaints and feedback.
- Collect and verify patient information and insurance coverage.
- Manage written, verbal and electronic communications.
- Screening incoming calls to provide the proper routing to other departments when necessary.
- Entering data for patients into an electronic medical record (EMR)
- Answering patient questions about billing and payments.
- Registering, scheduling and re-scheduling patients for initial appointments and follow-ups.
- Receiving and processing cash and credit card payments for medical services rendered.
- Reviewing patient accounts, identifying delinquent accounts, and collecting overdue payments.
- Informing patients about delays and waiting times.
- Obtaining patients’ addresses, contact details, insurance information, and medical histories.
- Updating and verifying patient information at every visit.
- Assisting patients in filling out patient history forms, consent forms, and payment contract forms, when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
:
- Excellent active listening skills and a strong service orientation.
- Computer skills.
- EMR systems.
- Experience working as a Patient Representative, Front Desk and/or Clerical.
- Professional manner and appearance.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills.
- Data entry skills.
- Customer service experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
