Pre-access Registration Specialist Position Available In East Baton Rouge, Louisiana

• Job Description:

• The Pre-Access Authorization Specialist II serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in the department to accurately verifying and completing insurance eligibility, securing prior authorization and managing authorization related denials to ensure patient financial health. Trains and mentors’ peer caregivers.
• Essential Functions
• + As a SME this individual has more specialized knowledge of the Pre-Access Authorization role + Responsible for mentoring new and existing caregivers, in collaboration with leadership + Participates in continued education development and engages with/on internal committees/projects + Confirms, enters, and/or updates required demographic data on patient and guarantor + Accurately verifies all pertinent patient related insurance eligibility, benefits, authorization; follow-up on appeals and denials when requested + Contacts patient/provider when authorization is unsecured prior to scheduled date of service + Effectively escalates issues which cannot be resolved independently + Maintains departmental/individual work queues and reviews self-quality for due diligence + Meets or exceeds departmental productivity, due diligence and quality standards + Promotes mission, vision, and values and abides by service behavior standards •Skills•+ Revenue cycle knowledge + Technical/technology acumen + Interpersonal relationships + Customer service + Mentorship + Time management + Medical terminology + Medical coding + Competency proficiency •

• Qualifications
• + High School Diploma/Equivalent OR 4 years of revenue cycle experience + Minimum 2 years previous experience as a Pre-Access Authorization Specialist

certification preferred + Achieve a passing score on level 2 examination required

+ Frequent interactions with customers require employees to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. + Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
