Summary:

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for the PatientAccess functions including, but not limited to, facility-basedscheduling, pre-registration, registration, insurance verification,pre-certification, and financial clearance under the direction ofthe Supervisor and Revenue Cycle Director.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensures and verifies key ADT information (insuranceverification, patient, and guarantor demographics, etc.) is currentand accurate to ensure patient safety, charging, coding, insuranceprocessing, and billing accuracy. 2. Completes and documents allgovernmental, regulatory, financial, and contractual forms inaccordance with procedure, and ensures documents are scanned/savedto correct location and are legible. 3. Utilizes price estimationtool, when applicable, as part of the registration process toprovide the most accurate estimate to patients. 4. Meetsdepartmental target for up front collections to include deposits,estimated amounts due, co-pays, and/or prior balances. 5. Activelyparticipates in departmental QA by utilizing system work queues,making a personal effort to reduce individual errors, and makingcorrections. Also utilizes system work queues as a daily part ofthe registration process to minimize errors.

Education Requirements:
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Associatesor Bachelor’s degree in arts/business is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • Must complete EPIC Cadenceand Prelude training & must pass exam upon completion of training.
Professional Experience Requirements:
  • Proficiency in computerskills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Customer-service oriented andproficient in written & oral communications.
  • Familiarity withmedical terminology.
