Job Purpose The Patient Access Representative is responsible foraddressing public needs and managing the dissemination of resourcesto meet patient needs. He/She is also responsible for registrationof patients who need medical attention. Maintaining medicalrecords, receiving incoming calls and processing of paperwork.
Duties and Responsibilities Monitors the waiting area and addressesany complaints/concerns expressed by patients, family members orvisitors Notifies appropriate personnel of complaints/concerns thatrequire their attention Provides interim solution for allcomplaints/concerns Obtains accurate information from patients forregistration, which includes correct name and address, phonenumber, insurance information, employment and signatures needed forprocessing All essential information will be entered into thecomputer Identification and insurance cards are photocopied andattached to the chart All charts are signed for consent andinitialed for correct address Assists the Doctors and nurses infinding information as needed Assists patients with generalinformation such as fees and resource personnel by referring themto the social worker and/or Financial Assistance for applicationfor Medicaid Provides assistance as needed to Physicians,Department Managers, and clinical staff as needed Effectivecommunication skills; clear written and oral techniques Performsother duties as assigned Use, protect and disclose patients’protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with HealthInsurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standardsQualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Min 1year experience in Healthcare environment preferred Excellentverbal, written and interpersonal skills Ability to provideexcellent customer service support and the ability to successfullymanage difficult situations/patients Organizational skills
WorkingConditions Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of thisjob, the employee is occasionally required to move around the workarea; Sit; perform manual tasks; operate tools and other officeequipment such as computer, computer peripherals and telephones;extend arms; kneel; talk and hear.

The employeemust be able to follow directions, collaborate with others, andhandle stress.
