The position requires effective communication with team members and patients regarding all aspects of service. Key responsibilities include managing telephone and mail contact with patients, scheduling appointments, collecting fees, and explaining services and charges. The role also involves distributing materials to patients, such as patient satisfaction cards and patient rights information, and verifying insurance details while setting fees based on a sliding scale. Responsibilities Assist with daily reception activities and ensure processes for patient services are initiated. Communicate effectively with team members and patients about service aspects. Manage telephone and mail contact with patients. Schedule appointments and collect fees, explaining services and charges. Distribute materials to patients, including satisfaction cards and rights information. Verify all insurance details and set fees based on a sliding scale. Essential Skills Patient service and customer service skills. Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel. High School Diploma or GED. Experience in front desk or CSR healthcare is highly valued. Computer skills. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is a significant advantage. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bilingual Spanish is a plus. Knowledge in receptionist customer service, patient information, charting, records, accounts, appointment scheduling and setting, and fee scheduling. Work Environment The position is based on a 35-hour workweek, with 7 hours paid and a 1-hour unpaid lunch. The work environment is within a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving various communities across New York. The health center offers comprehensive primary, preventative, and behavioral health services to all, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay, focusing especially on underserved and vulnerable populations.
