The PatientAccess Representative welcomes, greets, interviews patients and/orrepresentatives in person or over the telephone to ensure theirinitial experience with the hospital is exceptional. The PatientAccess Representative will also obtain the required demographic andinsurance information to ensure proper billing/reimbursement to thehospital. Secure required signatures from patients and/orrepresentatives to protect hospital’s interests. Provides excellentpatient experience for guests with a high level of professionalism.
Schedule:
This position is per diem as needed. Employees arerequired to work our normal business hours with the potential tocover all shifts within a 24-hour day as needed. It may benecessary, given the business need, to work occasionally overtimeor weekends.

You will be supporting both of our locationsas needed:
- 1 Norton Ave, Oneonta, NY 13820 (Fox Hospital Oneonta
- 43 Pearl Street, Sydney, NY 13838 (Fox Hospital Tri-Town Campus)We offer 4-6 weeks of on-the-job training.
The hours of thetraining will be based on schedule or will be discussed on yourfirst day of employment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Communicatesdirectly with patients and / or families either in person or on thephone to complete the registration process by collecting patientdemographics, health information, and verifying insuranceeligibility / benefits
- Utilizes computer systems to enter accessor verify patient data in real
- time ensuring accuracy andcompleteness of information
- Gathers necessary clinicalinformation and processes referrals, pre-certification,pre-determinations, and pre-authorizes according to insurance planrequirements
- Verifies insurance coverage, benefits, and createsprice estimates, reverifications as needed
- Collects patientco-pays as appropriate and conducts conversations with patients ontheir out-of-pocket financial obligations
- Identifies outstandingbalances from patient’s previous visits and attempts to collect anyamount due
- Responsible for collecting data directly from patientsand referring to provider offices to confirm and create scheduledappointments for patient services prior to hospital discharge
- Responds to patient and caregivers’ inquiries related to routineand sensitive topics always in a compassionate and respectfulmanner
- Generates, reviews, and analyzes patient data reports andfollows up on issues and inconsistencies as necessary
- Maintainsup-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements for allareas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OPRegistration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation unitsYou’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in anenvironment that will challenge you and give you clear direction onwhat it takes to succeed in your role as well as providedevelopment for other roles you may be interested in.
RequiredQualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
- 1 yearsof customer service experience
- Ability to work per-diem hours(generally 8-16 hours per week) with the potential to cover allshifts within a 24-hour day. It may be necessary, given thebusiness need, to work occasionally overtime or weekends
- Abilityto work onsite at either of our Fox Hospital facilities in Oneontaand Sydney, NY
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
PreferredQualifications:
- 1 years of experience in scheduling andauthorizations
- Healthcare experience and clinical knowledge
- Ability to work night and weekend hours

- Ability to buildrapport quickly, develop trust, sustain working relationships, andrepresent CRH positively in internal and external meetings

Physicaland Work Environment:
- Standing for long periods of time (10hours) while using a workstation on wheels and phone/headset

The salary range for this role is $16.00 to $28.85per hour based on full-time employment.
