Reports to:
PSD – Parallon Essential Functions Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy. Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members. Meets with patient or patient’s caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions. Communicates with admitting physician’s office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement. Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up. May assist with simple patient transport type responsibilities after proper training is provided. May assist with sitting with 6404, 1 to 1, or line of sight patients after proper training is provided. Responsible for calling codes overhead and for the documentation of the Codes Log per Joint Commission Guidelines. Responsible for updating HRTS State Database in times of Emergency Preparedness Events. Non-Essential Functions Other duties as assigned.
Must complete all assigned education in a timely manner.
Must complete department specific education. High school diploma or GED preferred
1 year experience in patient registration. Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Experience:
Prefer one-year registration experience in a health care setting with knowledge of all related systems or past work-related experience. Proficient in computer skills and able to write simple correspondence. Great customer skills required.
