Job Summary and Qualifications? The Pediatric Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivershigh-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance withthe nature and specific requirements of the department, andconsistent with the scope and standards of practice for therelevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient careteam, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostictests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receivinginvasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation. What you will do in this role: You will perform and document patient assessment, includingbreath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conductdiagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to,respiratory therapy. You will administer respiratory care therapies, includingoxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chestphysiotherapy. You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You willinitiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation. You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You willnotify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of anunintended response. You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependentpatients. You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensureairway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation asrequired.
What qualifications you will need:
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days ofemployment start date PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days ofemployment start date Associate Degree State Registered Respiratory Therapist, or Licensed CertifiedRespiratory Therapist (LCRT), or RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner(RRT / RCP) ?
