The Health Care Specialist performs equipment setups in a timelyand professional manner. This employee is generally responsible forthe setup of highly technical equipment such as ventilators,monitors, and CPAP units. The Health Care Specialist also providestechnical assistance with equipment and may end up performing setupof all types of oxygen equipment as well.
Provides patient educationas an intricate part of the patient care activity according to thepatient’s need and policy, frequently in the patient’s homeRequiresuse of a personal vehicle with a valid driver’s licensePerformscomplete and professional patient assessments in accordance withpolicies and proceduresMaintains current knowledge of respiratoryhomecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapyconceptsFollows applicable policies and procedures of the Safety ℜgulatory Manual regarding General Safety, OSHA (includes theproper use of Personal Protective Equipment), DOT (driving safety),FDA, and Emergency PlanningRepresents the company throughprofessional personal appearance, patient care activities, andcontent of written reportsFacilitates prescriptioncollectionMaintains patient records incomplete and organized mannerin compliance with accreditation standardsWork on-call after hoursand weekends as neededFrequency is determined by the center sizeand the number of employees available to share in theresponsibilityMust respond in a timely manner
Requirements:
Level 1
- Familiar with equipment and services provided in the home healthcare setting, or other experience in patient careLevel 2
- Minimumof two years experience in home health careLevel 3
- Minimum ofthree years experience in home health careMay be involved in thetraining of other Health care SpecialistsMust have excellent humanrelations skills to interface with doctors, other referral sources,and patientsMust be computer literateMust have completed alltraining/education required to obtain requisite certification,registration, and/or license described belowMust be a clinicianauthorized within his/her scope of practice (as established byapplicable state law or if none, by the applicable national board)to provide all patient care services offered by the company fromtime to timeMust remain certified, registered, or licensed by theapplicable state and/or national board governing his/her clinicalpractice or as otherwise permitted by lawIn all states CRTs andRRTs are qualified for this positionSubject to state law/regulationRNs, LPNs, LVNs, paramedics, EMTs, and other clinicians may also bequalified for this positionIf applicable, based on the requirementsof the state, in addition to a valid state license, the currentNational Board of Respiratory Care Credentials may also be requiredfor CRTs and RRTsSubject to State requirements and managementapproval, Candidates may be hired who do not meet all the abovecertifications and training, but practice respiratory therapy asauthorized by applicable state lawmust frequently lift and/or moveup to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50pounds
