  • Theyprovide inpatient diagnostics and patient navigation/education
  • Disease Management includes the tobacco treatment specialists, COPDnavigators, and Endoscopy bronchoscopy assistants, among otherresponsibilities
  • We’ve been involved in work groups for ourhospital readmissions, palliative care, advance care planning, andpneumonia quality groups, etc
  • The Disease management therapistsalso see hospital outpatients for tobacco dependence counseling andasthma education, using a clinic room at the Broadway campus.

This position is Full time 8 hour day shifts. Shifts arebetween 7AM and 8AM to 3:30PM or 4:30PM Every fourth weekend required One major and one minor holiday per year No call, but one of the team available by phone in the offhours as a resource for the RT therapists (infrequent calls) JobSummary The scope of work for a respiratory therapist includesassessment, therapeutic intervention and education for patientswith cardiopulmonary disorders and/or sleep disorders or associatedcomplications.

Qualifications Adegree in Respiratory Care from an accredited respiratory careprogram is required; minimum associate degree or equivalent asdefined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).Respiratory Therapists must have a thorough knowledge andunderstanding of all procedures, indications, contraindications andhazards involved in respiratory care, as well as knowledge ofequipment utilized in their department. Demonstrates the abilityand knowledge required to utilize computers for patientdocumentation and data gathering for quality care. Must completeorientations, competency validations, and other in-servicing asrequired by the department and hospital. Must have currentRespiratory Therapy licensure in state(s) of practice and/orpossess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.

Must have Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials asattained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) andmaintain active status according to NBRC credentialingrequirements. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) isrequired. Must obtain site-specific specialty credential(s) such asNeonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular LifeSupport (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc.
