Respiratory therapists practiceunder respiratory and ventilator management protocols with a highdegree of autonomy. Depending upon the facility, they performintubations and insert a-lines. RRTs are experienced RespiratoryTherapists that demonstrate independence, rule consciousness,social boldness, and change readiness. Qualifications:

Education:
2 Year / Associate Degree, required. 4 Year / BachelorsDegree, preferred.

Licensure/Certification:
Current RCP licensurein appropriate state, required.
Responsibilities:
It is theresponsibility of every Novant Health team member to deliver themost remarkable patient experience in every dimension, every time
- Acts as a patient advocate for the patient and their supportsystem by incorporating education in the interdisciplinary careplan.
- Prioritize job duties according to patients’ needs andchanging acuity levels and ensures timely completion of careinterventions, medical orders, etc.
- Administers and evaluatesmedication therapies, performs patient transfers and transportspatients.
- Ability to evaluate patient needs and provideappropriate routine respiratory care such as ABGs, bronchialhygiene therapy, etc., as well as perform higher levels of care incritical care areas and emergent situations.
- Demonstratesindependence in the specialty of Respiratory Care. Practicesaccording to state requirements and standards.

Critical CareSpecific:
Ventilator management, code blue, airway management,interpretation and intervention with blood gas analysis, use of allrelated protocols for patient care.
