Travelers Support:

UNC Hospitals UNC Rex/UNC RexHolly Springs Hospital Available shifts: Three (3), 12 hours shiftsper week required to work every other weekend for the duration ofthe agreement period. Non-Benefits Eligible Option Agreementduration is 13 weeks (with the ability to renew)

Hourly Rate:

$70/hr (Night Shift) $65/hr (Day Shift)Benefits Eligible OptionAgreement duration is 26 weeks (with the ability to renew)•

Summary:

This position is a temporary travel Respiratory Therapist. Underthe direction of department management and according to policiesand procedures as defined in the Department Policy and ProcedureManuals, administers respiratory care procedures and treatmentsdesigned to assess, prevent, stabilize or remedy patients’respiratory dysfunction. After completion of orientation, functionsindependently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

1. Administers standard Respiratory Care including but not limitedto, aerosol medication delivery, basic bedside pulmonary functiontesting, breathing exercises, oxygen therapy, arterial cannulationand arterial punctures. Provides for all aspects of airwaymanagement including aspiration of established airways,tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, endotrachealintubations and extubations. May perform Pulmonary Function Testingas needed. 2. May be required to be on-call days, nights, weekends andholidays. 3. May Perform all aspects of ventilator care to include, but notlimited to setting up the ventilator and verifying function usingspecialized ventilator modes to manage the patients diseaseprocess. Provide for an appropriate monitoring of these patientsand provide appropriate weaning techniques. 4. Maintains and improves job knowledge and skills. Serves asresource to other staff reflective of experience level. Serves asresource for physicians and other UNCHCS staff. Aids in trainingnew staff members, students and new physicians. Providesin-services as required. May assume Charge Therapistresponsibilities. 5. Records completely all pertinent information pertaining topatient care procedures per hospital and departmental policies.

Records patient information in electronic medical recordsystem.

Education Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the North CarolinaRespiratory Care Board. Must be registered (RRT) by the NationalBoard of Respiratory Care. BLS on hire. Must have eitherACLS-Adults, NRP
• NICU, PALS
• PICU/Rex, CPFT
• PFT, AdvancedPractice certificate to administer moderate sedation in theBronchoscopy Lab.

Must maintain certification annually.

Professional Experience Requirements:

• Two (2) years of experience as a

Respiratory Therapist Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical information andtechnical procedures.

Ability to document clinical information.

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond toquestions from patients, physicians, family members, and otherstaff.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply concepts such asfractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practicalsituations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collectdata, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability tointerpret an extensive variety of technical situations.
