Provides evaluation ofand care for respiratory therapy patients. Administers prescribedrespiratory therapeutic services.

Job Responsibilities andRequirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assesses patient forappropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan ofcare based on diagnosis. Responsible for providing respiratory careservices in accordance with specific physician’s orders, departmentpolicies and procedures and guidelines. Implements and monitorspatient care plan and equipment. Monitors, records and communicatespatient condition. Performs advanced respiratory care modalities.

Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, andtreatment based on patient outcome. Educates the patient and familyabout the health condition and provides information about communitysupport groups and other available programs. Assists with care,calibration and maintenance of all equipment. Participates inmaintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies andequipment. Processes equipment per establishedcleaning/sterilization procedures. Responds to Medical Emergenciesand Rapid Responses. Works in a constant state of alertness andsafe manner. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATIONAssociate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent years ofexperience and education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Constant use of speech to share informationthrough oral communication. Constant standing and walking. Frequentlifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry. Frequentuse of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches orless) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguishcolors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequentuse of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish bodysounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing25-50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasionalbending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping andrepetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving.

Rare crawling and running.
