Respiratory Therapist – Critical Care Position Available In Albany, New York

Job Description:

Position Overview:

As a Respiratory Therapist in our criticalcare unit, you will play a vital role in the assessment, treatment,and management of patients with acute respiratory andcardiopulmonary conditions. You will collaborate closely with amultidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care forcritically ill patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment andEvaluation:

Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’respiratory status, including physical examinations, diagnostictests, and patient histories.

Treatment Planning:

Develop andimplement individualized respiratory care plans in collaborationwith physicians and other healthcare providers.

VentilatorManagement:

Provide expertise in mechanical ventilation, includingadjusting settings, monitoring patients, and troubleshootingequipment.

Airway Management:

Perform endotracheal intubations,administer aerosolized medications, and manage artificial airways.

Patient Education:

Educate patients and their families aboutrespiratory conditions, treatment options, and self-carestrategies.

Emergency Response:

Respond promptly to emergencysituations, such as cardiac arrests or respiratory distress, andprovide life-saving interventions.

Documentation:

Maintain accurateand up-to-date patient records, documenting all assessments,treatments, and interventions in compliance with regulatorystandards.

Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with nurses,physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensurecoordinated care for critical care patients.

Quality Improvement:

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere toinfection control protocols.

Continuing Education:

Stay currentwith advances in respiratory therapy by attending training,workshops, and conferences.

Qualifications:

Current state licensureas a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or CertifiedRespiratory Therapist (CRT). BLS and ACLS certification. Minimum of5 years of experience in critical care or a related setting.

Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting respiratory equipment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to workeffectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment. Commitmentto maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.

PreferredQualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or arelated field. Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) or AdultCritical Care Specialist (ACCS) credential. Experience withelectronic health record (EHR) systems.
