MedStar Health islooking for a Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team atMedStar Harbor Memorial Hospital ! The ideal candidate will be acertified respiratory therapist who w ill pro vi de our patientswith extraordinary patient care by demonstrating strong knowledgein the field. Respiratory care is ordered by physicians accordingto established standards, practice s , and protocols. We arelooking for s omeone with w orking knowledge of human respiratoryanatomy, physiology, and pathology related to respiratory care.
Knowledge of the operation of respiratory care equipment and itsapplication in a clinical setting. The ability to assess hazardousconditions related to respiratory care and take corrective action.
The ability to work with patients of all ages (neonatal togeriatrics). The ability to remain calm and function understressful conditions. Primary Duties:
Assesses the physical,psychosocial, spiritual & cultural dimensions of the patient aswell as educational needs and document appropriately . Whereapplicable, refers to the competency validation documents forpopulation(s) served. Performs all respiratory therapy treatmentsand services, including but not limited to: application, operation,monitoring, and management of all equipment and services provided.
Service including but not limited to: oxygen, mixed gas, andhumidity; monitoring; ventilators (Invasive and Non-invasive);bronchial hygiene; lung expansion; Spirometry testing; EKGmachines; Blood Gas Analysis. Employs principles of therapeuticcommunication, interviewing techniques, problem solving and crisisintervention when performing patient care. Responds, performs, andparticipates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation by maintaining theairway, providing oxygen and ventilation via mask, endotrachealtube, or other devices, and per forming closed chest cardiacmassage. Facilitates workflow efficiency, monitoringinterdepartmental systems and processes, departmental policies andprocedures and making recommendations for improvements as needed.
Reviews electronic medical records and physician orders throughoutwork shift.
Qualifications:
Associate degr ee
- Graduate of an AMAaccredited program in respiratory care with an AAS Degree or higher. CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)
- NBRC RegisteredRespiratory Therapist or NBRC Registered Pulmonary FunctionTechnician from an accredited Respiratory Care Program is required. BLS
- Basic Life Support required . ACLS
- Advanced Cardiac LifeSupport Certification , required within one year of hire . NRP
- Neonatal Resuscitation Certification Program , required within oneyear of hire . PALS
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification, required within one year of hire .
Must be registry eligible;some a cute experience is preferred.
Preferred education:
Bachelor’s degree in related healthcare field.
Preferredcertification:
RRT ( Registered Respiratory Therapist ) from theNational Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) . This position has ahiring range of $34.98
