R-58643 Job SummaryAssessespatients’ respiratory care needs based on a variety of data. Plans,organizes, performs, and evaluates treatment modalities to meetthose needs. Ensures the very best patient/family experience byoptimizing all customer interaction. Job Duties

  • Consistentlyperforms and documents thorough patient assessments.
  • Establishesappropriate care plans.
  • Communicates with other members of thepatient care team.
  • Correctly performs and documents routinetherapeutic modalities including aerosolized medications, secretionmanagement techniques, pulmonary volume expansion, oxygen therapy,and assists with routine care and maintenance of artificialairways.
  • Initiates and manages conventional and high frequencymechanical ventilators according to established protocol.
  • Provides appropriate, age-specific, patient and family education asit relates to disease management.
  • Assists in intra-hospitaltransport of mechanically ventilated patients.
  • Responsible foracute airway management in emergent situations.
  • Sets up andmanages non-invasive monitoring (i.e. ETCO monitors, pulseoximeters).
  • When care management not available, assists withdischarge planning for patients needing respiratory related DMEsupplies, follows appropriate insurance guidelines.
  • Adheres toregulatory requirements and safety standards.
  • Adheres toinstitutional and nationally established standards of care.
  • Collects arterial blood gas samples and processes through point ofcare blood analyzers.
  • Maintains the confidentially of patientinformation according to established internal and externalspecifications and regulations including release of information andHIPAA.
  • Functions as the Shift Coordinator (charge person) whendesignated as such after one year of employment.
  • Assists themedical team in the performance of fiberoptic bronchoscopyprocedures.
  • Assists the medical team with the placement invasivemonitoring lines and obtains hemodynamic measurements andcalculations.
  • Assists in the intra-hospital transport of agespecific patient groups.
  • Functions as a preceptor for orienteesand students in their clinical rotation.
