JOB SUMMARY
Examines patients with breathing-related conditions and conducts diagnostic testing. Consults with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient. Performs physiotherapy and other treatments and teaches patients to use medications.

Director of Respiratory Therapy FLSA:
Non-exempt
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
Educates the patient and family about the patient’s illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform other duties as assigned.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service, projects and committees as assigned.
- Adheres to and supports policies and procedures of the STRHS.
- Works scheduled shifts including overtime, when necessary.
- Accepts all call schedule as directed.
- Maintains a neat and professional appearance in compliance to the existing dress code.
ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONS
- Compliance to the STRH – Lawrenceburg Standards of Performance is required.
- Compliance to Dress Code Standards

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
X Associate’s degree X Required
X Graduate of a Program in Discipline X Required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
X Basic Life Support (BLS) X Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) X Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) (BLS may be obtained within week one of orientation, before patient care)
ACLS may be obtained within 6 months of hire
NRP may be obtained within 9 months of hire
Licenses:
