Responsibilities:

You areresponsible for the overall function and professional growth of therespiratory therapy department. You will provide consultation withregard to pulmonary disorders and respiratory therapy practice, andyou will provide quality respiratory care while ensuring thedevelopment and routine monitoring. This position also providesdiscipline-specific education to patients, families and staff asrequired, and works collaboratively with the Chief Nursing Officerto ensure that all departmental standards are met while followingthe appropriate standards of practice to ensure regulatorycompliance.

Overseeing the daily operations of the respiratorytherapy department, to include: staff interviews, employmentdecision, orientation, performance evaluations, employee trainingand development, as well as inventory, equipment and instrumentissues.

Sharing responsibility for employee engagement, recruitmentand retention.

Implementing company standards of care, policies andprocedures.

Ensuring all regulatory requirements are met regardingrespiratory and point of care.

Creating and maintaining clinicalschedule for safe staffing.

Maintaining clinical costcontrol.

Coordinating and actively participating in WeanTeam/Pulmonary Rounds and maintaining a direct line ofcommunication with pulmonary physicians to facilitate/implement androutinely monitor weaning patients from mechanical ventilation; ifprotocols do not exist, works toward site-specific protocolimplementation.

Steering progressive clinical excellence throughstaff development while promoting continuous qualityimprovement.

Teaching and counseling patients and theirfamilies.

Maintaining competency in Rapid Response and codeevents.

Site-Dependent:

Functioning as Moderate Complexity LabManager over point of care testing and functioning as the SafetyOfficer, overseeing the Environment of Care.

Minimum requirements:

Current StateLicense.

Active Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential (RRT)from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Required.

Possessa Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.

ACLS within6 months of employment required.

Preferred qualifications that willmake you successful:

Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapyrequired, Bachelors Degree preferred.

Five (5) years experience as aRespiratory Therapist in an Acute Care setting preferred.

Two yearssupervisory experience preferred.
