$5,000 Sign on Bonus Job Summary Administersspeech and language evaluations, tests or examinations to diagnoseand plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with variousspeech problems and swallowing disorders. Assessesclients/patients/residents with various speech, language, cognitiveor swallowing problems and develops individualized treatment plansbased on clinical diagnoses. Provides speech and language servicesto clients/patients/residents; monitors disease progression andadjusts treatments accordingly. Instructsclients/patients/residents in practicing speech and languagetherapeutic exercises; provides consultation forclients/patients/residents working through speech and languagetreatment processes. Ensures all speech and language relatedstandards, policies, protocols and quality requirements are met.

May treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnosis anddisorders. Will demonstrate documentation in accordance withdepartmental guidelines and meet all regulatory requirements.

Demonstrates level of treatment associated with their specialtyprovided to their clients/patients/residents. Follows and adheresto accepted clinical practice guidelines of professionalorganization. Exhibits flexibility with acceptance of variable workschedules/assignments. Participates in activities to promote thedepartment, Good Samaritan Society and Sanford Health. Will beinteracting with individuals outside of the department includingbut not limited to: providers, case managers, third party payers,public organizations, etc. May be asked to supervise assistants,aides, and students as they provide client/patient/resident care,treatment, or other services. Will be expected to provide ongoingeducation and training to peers in the area(s) of expertise asdetermined by the department leadership. Performs other relatedduties as requested by manager. Based on assigned area, work mayfocus on those receiving intervention in the post-acute, long termcare and home health care environments when applicable.

Qualifications Appropriate education level required in accordancewith state licensure. Must be licensed in the state(s) of practiceas Speech-Language Pathologist. When working at a Sanford HealthFacility (not required but preferred by GSS Facilities): Holds aCertificate of Clinical Competence issued by the AmericanSpeech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or currently working onClinical Fellowship Year (CFY). When applicable, may require validdriver’s license. Obtains and subsequently maintains requireddepartment specific competencies and certifications. Basic LifeSupport (BLS) for health care providers required or within thefirst 60 days of employment.
