QUALIFICATIONS
• A Louisiana License in Speech Pathology from the Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech, Language, Pathology and Audiology (LBESPA)
OVERVIEW OF POSITION
To promote student achievement by reducing, eliminating, or accommodating speech, language, and hearing impairments
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides an appropriate Individual Educational Program (IEP) to meet needs of speech, language, and hearing impaired children
2. Promotes early intervening services to encourage typical speech development
3. Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech, language, and hearing impairments
4. Completes and maintains documents as required by federal and state laws
5. Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate
6. Provides in-service education and serves as consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement
7. Participates in voice clinics held for children suspected of voice disorders
8. Assists principal in day-to-day operation of school
9. Practices school rules and policies
10. Notifies principal of absences
11. Carries out extracurricular duties and after-school activities as assigned
12. Participates in in-service training
13. Meets the criteria for a Professional Growth Plan following the guidelines in the Bossier Parish Program of Professional Personnel Evaluation
14. Assumes additional responsibilities as the Principal may assign
