POSITION OVERVIEW
Speech-Language Pathologist, Elementary Functional Life Skills Program (Full Time) – System Wide, 25-26 SY Portland Public Schools is seeking an innovative ASHA-Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide speech and language services for students in our Functional Life Skills Program. The SLP will join a passionate, multidisciplinary team of teachers, ed-techs, social workers, occupational therapists and physical therapists.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess all areas of speech and language development, provide direct instruction to students, and consult collaboratively with team members Develop goals & Individualized Education Plans consistent with state/federal laws and regulations, provide case management for students with speech/language disabilities, and implement programs in the least restrictive environment appropriate for the student Work collaboratively with team members and provide direct and group therapy to support functional communication and feeding skills Provides services to a diverse student population ranging from Pre-K through 5th grade with a variety of diagnoses, including, but not limited to: Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delays, Down syndrome, nonverbal/verbal ASD, other health impairment, Epilepsy, ADHD, Deaf/Blind, dysphagia and genetic disorders
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Specific experience with alternative and augmentative communication systems and feeding/swallowing therapy required Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in the public school environment, and experience with functional life skills and/or complex communication profiles Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
