DESCRIPTION

Successful candidate will work with students with disabilities with language impairments, articulation deficits, disfluencies and voice disorders in order to help reduce or eliminate speech and hearing impairments that interfere with the individual student’s ability to benefit from the district’s educational program. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily: Experience working with PreK-8 students. Candidate will evaluate and treat speech, language, voice, fluency and dysphagia within a multidisciplinary treatment team. Provide consultation, direct instruction and modeling both in and out of the classroom to develop a total language/communication environment. Candidate will be familiar with and be able to complete required State Special Education paperwork associated with case management and provision of Special Education Services. Demonstrate ability to implement a variety of models of therapy including individual and small group therapy, inclusive therapy and consultation Maintain thorough knowledge of the theory, principles and methods of speech pathology and their proper application in the educational environment Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment and to maintain effectiveness in a changing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Maine Speech Pathologist Certification and Licensure and Maine Criminal History Background Check Certificate.
