JOB SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of a Clinical TeamLeader. Provides individualized patient care for patients in alldevelopmental stages throughout the life span including: Adult -18-72 years, Geriatric – 72 + years, according to establishedpolicies, procedures, and guidelines. Participates in professionalresponsibilities such as program development, student programs, andperformance improvement programs. Provides patient consultation andassumes communicative role with other professionals. Performs otherduties as assigned.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES 1.
Assesses, interprets,plans, implements, and evaluates patients with appropriate level ofskill according to the patient’s age and diagnosis. 2. JOBSPECIFICATIONS 1.
Education:
Graduate of clinical program from anaccredited university or community college. Masters degree inspeech-language pathology. 2. Licensure /
Certifications:
Licensurein the state in which providing care (NC/SC); CPR certification. NCand CCC from ASHA or eligibility to begin CFY year. 3.
Experience:
Graduate practicums in medical setting Prefer one year experience.4. Essential Technical /
Motor Skills:
Knowledge of diagnostic andspeech procedures, ability to manipulate patient care equipment,including modalities and assistive devices; ability to properlytransfer and guard patients. 5.
Interpersonal Skills:
Ability todeal with the public, co-workers, patients, families and physiciansin a professional and positive manner. 6.
Essential PhysicalRequirements:
Requires significant locomotion, frequent liftinggreater than 50# and transferring patients greater than 100#. Alsofrequent reaching in front of the body, bending and pushing andpulling. Occasionally requires reaching overhead, stair climbing.7.
Essential Mental Abilities:
Ability to apply rehabilitationclinical principles and use professional reasoning to developappropriate treatment programs. Ability to prioritize duties, learnnew skills and techniques in patient care. Ability to learn and usecomputer technology and supportive services. 8.
Essential SensoryRequirements:
Ability to see and communicate clearly in order toperform basic clinical techniques. Adequate hearing for speechdiscrimination. 9. Exposure to
Hazards:
Noise, congestion,communicable disease, exposure to blood borne pathogens, patientassault, and injury resulting from improper body mechanics,uncooperative patients, families, and community hazards.10.
Hoursof Work:
40 hour work weeks, variable Monday-Friday, weekends andholidays as needed.11.
