We operate in48 states and 12 countries. Sterling Medical is seeking a skilledSpeech Language Pathologist (SLP) for a position in Okinawa, Japan.

This great career opportunity will be working with militarychildren and families. This position is working with earlyintervention age group 0-3. SLP Qualifications Have, as a minimum,a master’s degree in the field of speech pathology. Have acertification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) as awarded by theAmerican Speech/Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) or acurrent license in speech-language pathology in at least one stateor territory in the United States. License shall be unencumberedand renewed annually. Possess the basic knowledge of principles andpractices of family-centered care as it relates to EarlyIntervention Services, and knowledge of theories and practices ofdelivering comprehensive services in the least restrictive setting.

Possess a basic knowledge of medical and social conditions that areassociated with developmental disabilities in young children andhow these conditions may be best remedied. Possess a basicknowledge of typical infant/toddler growth and development and theimpact of behavioral, biological, and environmental risks on suchdevelopment. Have the skills and ability to independently determinetest instruments to be used for infants/toddlers; to administer,score, and interpret the test. Have the skills and ability toprovide competent face-to-face contact with infants/toddlers withdisabilities, their families, other members of the team, childcareemployees, preschool teachers, physicians, and county and stateofficials. Have the interpersonal skills of compassion and empathyand the ability to assist emotionally distraught, depressed, orangry family members to develop a sense of competence regardingtheir child with disabilities. Have the ability to useinterpersonal skills of valuing inter- and trans-disciplinary work,handling professional disagreements effectively, and communicatingthe unique viewpoint and contributions of the field of earlychildhood speech-language pathology during contacts with otherprofessionals and child care employees. Have the knowledge, skills,and abilities to appropriately evaluate infants and toddlers;assist and teach families; articulate the developmental needs ofthe child; consult with families, caregivers, and otherprofessionals; explain the scope of services provided to familiesand county and state officials; and participate in team/groupinteractions, work groups, and decision making. Have training andcertification in BCLS. HCPs shall maintain current certification inBCLS while performing services under this contract.
