  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
  • Valid State of NH Allied Health Licensure
  • Ability to work cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member and establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, students, families, teachers, administrators and others
  • Ability to select, interpret and use diagnostic and assessment data
  • Ability to handle confidential information with complete security
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and time management skills
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities to apply and interpret federal, state and local laws and policies related to educational service requirements for students
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive required due to travel between District schools Reports to:

Annual Job Goal:

This position requires the ability to develop and implement comprehensive speech, language, and hearing programs for students who have educational disabilities or otherwise in need of speech-language services. This work includes collecting, assessing, and analyzing individual student information from observations, evaluations and assessments of referred students and working cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member to plan and provide appropriate communication interventions and services through the student services department.

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Provide or supervise the provision of speech-language services to students who are eligible for those services
  • Attend all relevant referral meetings, IEP meetings, evaluation planning and eligibility meetings as a team member representing the area of communication
  • Administer all speech-language evaluations and screenings, interpret findings, write summaries and/or reports, disseminate assessment results and recommendations
  • Write and review IEP goals and objectives for students who are eligible for speech-language services
  • Provide on-going assessment and evaluation of individual student’s progress
  • Maintain on-going records on all students referred, evaluated and receiving therapy services
  • Collaborate with other related service team members, special educators and regular education teachers in the development of goals and objectives to address students’ individual communication needs
  • Supervise and evaluate speech-language assistants in accordance with best practice guidelines
  • Provide in-service training and consultations for staff as needed for student access to the general education curriculum
  • Submit logs for Medicaid billing in a timely manner
  • Provide direct services for “high needs” students who require more specialized services than a Speech-Language Assistant can provide alone
  • Plan and support the implementation of low tech and high tech AAC systems for students who require them
  • Support the use of assistive technology accommodations for high and low incidence speech, language and hearing needs.
  • Assume responsibility for requisitioning as well as maintaining needed testing tools, equipment and supplies

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee will occasionally be required to stand, walk, bend and reach. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 15 pounds. Manual dexterity is required to finger, handle or grasp objects. Must be able to hear and talk. Ability to drive required to travel when necessary within and outside of the District.
