Summary:
Under the general clinical supervision of the Manager of the Rehabilitation Department and the Clinical Director of the assigned Clinical Programs, independently provides Speech-Language and Communication therapy to children and adolescents, and consultation, and in-service training to Clinical Program staff. May practice autonomously in the areas privileged for autonomous practice. Follows guidelines, policies and procedures and meets responsibilities as a staff member of the Rehabilitation Department and assigned Clinical Programs.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrates behavior which follows the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Code of Ethics in all aspects of clinical work and staff relationships. Observes policies and procedures of Bradley Hospital as outlined in the Bradley Hospital Employee Manual. Provides Speech-Language and Communication treatment according to ASHA, Speech and Language Department and Program standards and makes referrals for further evaluation when appropriate. Develops and implements appropriate treatment goals and objectives for verbal residents/patients with emotional or behavioral disorders and/or developmental disorders and/or residents/patients who are nonspeaking. Collaborates and educates Clinical Program staff, parents, and other relevant caregivers. Provides education to trainees according to ASHA, Speech and Language Department, Brown University Health and Program standards. Actively engages in hospital-wide and/or community liaison activities of the Rehabilitation Department and/or Program served. Thoroughly documents treatment progress in resident charts in an accurate and timely manner. Completes tasks and treatments as directed by the Manager of Rehabilitation. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
Master’s Degree (M.S. or M.A.) in Speech and Language Pathology with certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-SLP). Clinical Fellows will be considered. Licensed or eligible for licensure by the State of Rhode Island. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
EXPERIENCE
Relevant educational and/or clinical experience with children and/or adolescents with communication disorders and/or emotional/behavioral disorders and/or developmental disorders.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work performed in the rehabilitation department, resident rooms, and on inpatient milieus, includes bends, lifts, sits, stands, and moves frequently throughout shift; deals with patients, Clinical Program Staff, and caregivers; and works shifts as scheduled with manager of rehabilitation.
