Summer Early Childhood Special Education

Job Description:

Under direction of the Pre-K Special Education Manager and Chief of Student Support Services, the individual subbing in one of the above positions will complete evaluations, hold evaluation team meetings, write IEPs, present levels and goals, update skyward/PowerSchool.
Daily rate of pay, contingent upon funding

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Experience working on the Early Childhood District Evaluation Team
Ability tocase manage cases and follow the procedures of the Early Childhood District Evaluation Team.
Training in the RIELDS
Training in how to complete the COS
Experience writing IEPs at the PK level
Working knowledge of Skyward and PowerSchool for documentation of evaluations, eligibility, and IEP placements

RIDE Certification Requirements:

Certificate required by the State Department of Education Current Rhode Island Teacher Certificate(s) in appropriate subject area
PK-12 Social Worker or
ECH SPED or
PK-12 psychologist or
PK-12 SLP or
ESL Preferred

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Complete required case management
Provide written reports
Documentation of services for Medicaid purposes
Ability to work together as a team to determine testing and meeting needs
The team works toward completion of pre-kindergarten cases
All team members will work on completing evaluations, writing evaluations File review to ensure appropriate permission has been obtained for completion of evaluations
Contacting parents (phone calls and letters) to schedule evaluation sessions Documentation of all attempts to contact families and results of that contact Completion of formalized testing in area of certification and writing corresponding evaluations
Write IEPs, IEP goals and hold meeting Completion of documentation required for eligibility, inclusive of prior written notice of eligibility
Weekly submission of timesheets, activity logs, and completed files
Input of all necessary documentation in Skyward and PowerSchool
Any/all related duties that may be assigned by Manager of Special Education and Services and/or Executive Director of Special Education

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Good communication and human relations skills
Experience working on the Early Childhood District Evaluation Team, preferred
Formulate concise reports and maintain complete longitudinal records on each student served.
Demonstrated proficiency with PC-based computer applications, Microsoft Office applications, email, web applications, and industry specific technology.
