General Job Responsibilities:
Assist students with special communicative needs in articulation, language, voice, and fluency. Coordinate services with the student’s educational staff and family. Responsible for documentation for Medicaid billing for eligible students. Report to the principal(s) at the assigned school(s) and collaborate with the Exceptional Children’s team.
Essential Job Functions:
Planning and Oversight :
Organize the school program, cooperate with others to accomplish goals, and maintain records in accordance with ethical standards.
Screening, Testing, Diagnosing and Advising :
Conduct screenings and assessments, analyze diagnostic information, and make recommendations for programs and services.
Developing Individual Education Programs :
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and professionals to develop IEPs for eligible students.
Managing and Conducting Therapy :
Implement therapy plans, use appropriate diagnostic tools, and support student needs.
Liaison :
Provide consultation, seek assistance, and make recommendations for service implementation.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required. Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred. Valid South Carolina SLP license (or eligibility to obtain). Experience in school-based settings is a plus but not required.
