Job Description
Speech and Language Pathologist 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Altamont, TN 37301 The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) supports students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders, ensuring they can access the general education curriculum. The SLP works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to identify, assess, and provide services that improve students’ communication skills and academic outcomes.
Responsibilities:
AssessmentDiagnosis Conduct screenings, evaluations, and assessments to identify speech and language impairments Interpret evaluation results and determine eligibility under IDEA guidelines Maintain appropriate documentation and confidentiality of student records InterventionTherapy Develop and implement individualized therapy plans (IEPs) for eligible students Provide direct and consultative speech/language therapy in individual or group settings Monitor, document, and report on student progress toward IEP goals CollaborationSupport Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Work closely with teachers to provide strategies and supports within the classroom Serve as a resource for staff and families on speech and language development ComplianceReporting Maintain compliance with federal and state special education regulations Submit Medicaid billing documentation (if applicable) Maintain accurate service logs, data, and required reports in a timely manner ProfessionalismDevelopment Stay current with best practices and licensure requirements in speech-language pathology Attend district and state-mandated professional development as required Uphold ethical and professional standards as outlined by ASHA and the Tennessee Department of Education Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program Current Tennessee SLP license (Board of Communication Disorders and Sciences) Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA preferred; CFY considered Knowledge of
IDEA, IEP
development, and school-based service delivery Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills Experience working in a school setting is preferred, but not required Working Conditions Travel may be required between multiple school sites within the district Duties are performed in school classrooms, therapy rooms, and office settings Requires regular lifting of materials and equipment up to 25 lbs.
