Job Description
DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Rehabilitation Support Representative is responsible for, but not limited to, the smooth operation of the following functions: registration, reception, insurance verification, precertification, scheduling, administrative/clerical support and medical record management for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. It is expected that a strong customer service focus is demonstrated in all interactions with patients/family, physician offices, clinicians, co-workers, payers and other departments.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
(Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience:
Two years of experience in a busy medical office required. Rehab experience strongly preferred. Experience working with commercial payers, Medicare and Medicaid required. Experience working in admissions or community scheduling preferred. Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and powerpoint software required.
Education and Training:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Level of knowledge associated with two years of college or equivalent work experience preferred.
License, Certification & Registration:
N/A Other Requirements:
Medical terminology required. Knowledge of procedures and appointment types for Physiatry, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Audiology and Speech Language Pathology preferred. Proficiency with the hospital’s computer system/software which manages scheduling, registration and payer/benefit verification preferred. Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks at one time. Strong interpersonal skills (both oral and written), High level of flexibility and organization,. Ability to interact appropriately with community, hospital staff, and physicians. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality. Demonstrated proficiency with written and oral communication. Ability to speak English language in a clearly understandable manner.
