is hiring an experienced, compassionate, creative, patient, friendly, and reliable Childcare Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to work closely with childcare educators, administrators and families to support children ages birth to 5 years with behavioral and social-emotional health concerns in a blended, inclusive environment.

As a North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten Program provider, we offer a child-centered literacy focused curriculum to prepare eligible children, 4 and 5 years of age, for success in Kindergarten and beyond. As a Childcare Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in an Early Learning Center, you will develop individual goals for the students and plan and implement activities to assist them with reaching those goals.

What you’ll do: Deliver Coaching and mentoring to early care and education programs and educators Collaborate with local Smart Starts and schools, NCPRE-K, all classrooms and teachers to facilitate a positive social/emotional learning environment for children with behaviors and/or trauma related behaviors that encourages cooperation and constructive peer relationships. Initial Evaluation and identification of the needs of the child Communicate expectations and provide guidance to teachers Mentor classroom and staff and model appropriate social/emotional redirection Conduct home trainings as needed Consults with support personnel and families to address student concerns (challenging behaviors, difficulty with peer interaction, aggression, extreme shyness, difficulty following routines and focusing etc.) and educate caregivers on the child’s goals and experiences and provide information on how to use community resources and at home coping skills and materials to reinforce the skills learned at the program. Mentor children to help build social skills and relationships. Participate in IEP meetings with local school system. Maintain and attend regular trainings with early childhood behavior professional agencies What you need: Pass NCDEE criminal record and healthcare registry check Pass Drug Screen Pass driving record check if providing transportation Associates Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or related field NC SLPA Registration (required) Specialized knowledge in working with preschool special education students and experience with interventions and strategies used to support children with social/emotional and behavioral health concerns. Note:
Current First Aid/CPR blended or classroom certification is required. If you do not currently have certification from an approved provider, our American Red Cross certified instructors will provide you the training. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently (per policy)
