Job Description
SPD Responsibilities:
Responsible for cleaning, decontamination, processing, assembling, sterilization, and storage of reusable medical devices and supplies used to meet the needs of the patient and the OR team performing each surgical procedure. Follows guidelines for maintaining hospital standards of quality and infection control.
Scrub Tech Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting with various types of surgeries in collaboration with the registered nurse as the direct supervisor. Assists the RN in implementing individualized nursing care to accommodate expected change which can occur during the surgical procedure; assists in proper documentation; maintains appropriate sterile fields by preparing instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for each surgical procedure.
SPD Essential Functions:
Performs decontamination procedures for instruments and equipment. Performs sterilization process. Documents accurately the sterilization parameters achieved. Assembles instruments and instrument sets correctly.
