POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education /
Training:
1. High school graduate or equivalent. 2. Previous CSR experience required. 3. Certified CSR technicians must maintain 10 hours of continuingeducation (CE) annually. 4. Certification must be attained from either the InternationalAssociation of Healthcare Central Service Material Management(IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing andDistribution (CBSPD). 5. Certification must be maintained according to requirements ofeither the International Association of Healthcare Central ServiceMaterial Management (IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for SterileProcessing and Distribution (CBSPD).
Workplace Experience:
Central Sterilization and Processing. experience in an
Inpatient orOutpatient Surgery Environment Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function independentlyor within a team. Flexibility in applying basic sterile processingknowledge in a variety of settings. Knowledge in the following
CSPequipment:
surgical equipment, instruments and trays; Pre-Vac andGravity steam sterilization; low temperature sterilization;surgical instrument washer / disinfector and ultrasonic cleaner,network computer system; computerized surgical Instrument trackingsystem.
Physical Environment:
An Inpatient and Outpatient Surgical facility with patientpopulation ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nineplus years of age. Environmental conditions include possibleexposure to anesthetics, radiation, and infectious diseaseentities.
Physical Effort:
1. Requires the ability to communicate in English orally andwritten. 2. Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours aday. 3. Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs. 4. Requires the ability to lift, position, and transport withassistance up to 250 lbs. 5. Ability to work overtime or late shifts as required by the workload schedule. 6.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Decontamination Area 1. Adheres to CS decontamination area policies and procedures.
Proper wearing of PPE 2. Knowledge of ultrasonic and instrument washer testing andoperation. 3. Adheres to CS eye wash station policy & procedures, weeklytesting. Instrument Assembly Area 4. Assembles instruments and equipment according to CentralSterilization policies and procedures. 5. Utilizes available resources (Censitrac and OneSource) for thecorrect sterilization methods. 6. Utilizes proper instrument wrapping techniques and proper peelpackage of surgical instruments. Sterilization 7. Adheres to CS policies related to all sterilization methods,Steam – prevac /gravity, Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide. 8. Properly loads sterilization racks and follows CS policies andprocedures for sterilization. 9. Monitors chemical and physical sterilization cycle parameters,documents results correctly. Sterile Storage 10. Adheres to storage requirements for sterilized reusable medicalequipment. 11. Facilitates a cohesive sterile processing team. Assists withthe orientation and training of new personnel, and participates inthe development of educational program for co-workers. 12. Participates in quality improvement activities, developsprocess improvement plans and implementation.
