Undergeneral supervision and following established procedures,decontaminates, disinfects, cleans and checks instruments, preparesand sterilizes reusable items, prepares instrument trays for theOperating Room and all departments as needed. Stays current withsterilization techniques, monitors biological tests for all methodsof sterilization according to established procedures.

JobResponsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESDemonstrates the philosophy of the organization and tenets ofintegrated health care while providing leadership and demonstratinginnovation within the health care ministry. Promotes theachievement of desired safety and clinical outcomes by providingsterile processing leadership team with ongoing feedback regardingperformance for new and current employees. Creates an environmentthat encourages provider satisfaction by ensuring daily workflowprocesses are followed resulting in sterile and accurate tray/casecompletion within expected turnaround times. Promotes employeeengagement by coordinating orientation of new employees andassisting with planning for continuing education of sterileprocessing department staff. Assists in the development andrevision of department procedures to ensure compliance withregulatory requirements. Works in a constant state of alertness andsafe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

HighSchool diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

EXPERIENCE

Oneyear sterile processing experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Constantstanding and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pullingobjects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent reaching and gripping. Frequentuse of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches orless) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguishcolors. Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling,squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing25-50 lbs. Occasional use of hearing and speech to shareinformation through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms,malfunctioning machinery, etc. Occasional use of smell todetect/recognize odors. Rare crawling, sitting and keyboarduse/data entry.
