Job Description:

Job Purpose:

Primary responsibility is to sterilize instruments and prepare supplies in accordance with OSHA standards . Maintains all equipment used in attaining and assuring sterility. This position has the potential to assist the hygienist and assistants with a variety of oral health care services including radiographs, charting and operatory turnover.

Duties:

Prepares, cleans, organizes, and closes the sterilization room and lab for daily functions . Maintains equipment, instruments, handpieces, burs and armentarium by proper care, cleaning, and sterilization according to OSHA standards and manufacturer’s instructions. Prepares all instrument packs, handpieces, burs, etc. and distributes to operatories . Consults patient schedule to ensure proper availability of instruments in operatories. Assists in preparing operatories when requested . Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with OSHA infection control policies for the protection of patients, self and co-workers. Maintains laundry daily to include towels, smocks, uniforms, etc.

Maintains patient confidentiality and conducts herself in a professional manner. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications. Assists all clinical personnel after radiological certification is achieved and deemed ready for additional duties by Office Manager, Team Coordinator and Clinical Supervisor.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent . Use of dental technology, infection control, dental procedures, radiographs in later phases, Pleasant outgoing, professional demeanor and appearance, Teamwork, thoroughness, organizational skills, self-development.
