Overview:
The Sterile Processing Technician Lead supports withproperly decontaminating, assembling, and sterilizing medicalequipment and instruments in order to comply with safety standardsand provide quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Works underthe direction of Supervisor and assists with the daily operationsof the Sterile Processing Department (SPD)
- Serves as adepartmental resource for SPD and other departments and modelsexcellent customer service
- Maintains frequent and ongoingcommunication with the Sterile Processing Supervisor
- Expert inall aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provideguidance and education to SPD employees
- Assumes role andresponsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned
- Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining departmentproduction requirements by leading and directing SPD employees
- Assists with case carts management, case picking, and communicatesissues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor
- Uses excellentcommunication skills when discussing instrument needs with SterileProcessing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR ClinicalCoordinators
- Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimallyand report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or theappropriate department
- Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisorwith maintenance of departmental compliance logs
- Assists SPDManager with implementation and enforcement of departmentalpolicies
- Assists with special projects and interdepartmentalcommittees as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Associate’s Degree
EXPERIENCE
Required:
4 years of experience inSterile Processing or a related field
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING
Required:
CertifiedSterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or Certified RegisteredCentral Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified SurgicalTechnologist (CST).
Preferred:
Ambulatory Surgery TechnicianCertified (CASSPT_, Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor Certification(CFER), Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS), Certified SterileProcessing Management (CSPM)
