As a Level 1Trauma Center, the mainstream patient population includes motorvehicle trauma, orthopedic injuries, vascular surgical, abdominalsurgical, liver and kidney transplant, and extensive esophagectomypatients. Under the supervision of the rounding Surgical-TraumaIntensivist, the unit has a team of Physician Assistants, AdvancedPractice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses and surgical housestaff physicians consisting of interns and residents. Job SummaryThe Assistant Nursing Manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who hasresponsibility for the supervision of patient care, clinicalpersonnel, and unit operations. This position supervises a workgroup to ensure that a high quality, cost-effective patient andfamily centered care is provided in support of the hospital’sstrategic plan, and the function’s goals and objectives. Thisposition works collaboratively with functional leadership and isresponsible for the oversight of daily operations of the assigneddepartment including off shift and weekend supervision of nursingand non-licensed staff. This position manages resources, qualityimprovement, payroll, creating and maintaining colleague schedulesand monitors patient throughput to facilitate efficient clinicaloperations. In addition, this position is responsible for a safeand therapeutic unit environment, which includes working in thedepartment as staff RN to assist as needed. This position supportsleadership in ensuring standards of excellence and professionaldevelopment are fostered and met. This position also participatesin and may lead Performance Improvement work in their assigneddepartment. Qualifications Qualifications Current Connecticut RNLicense. Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required;MSN Preferred). BLS certification by the American HeartAssociation, ACLS certification, and proof of ArrhythmiaCertification required prior to date of hire. Minimum 2 years ofAcute Care RN experience required, with 1 year of supervisoryexperience preferred. We take great care of careers.
