systems Computer skills Patient interaction Phone etiquette Medical terminology Communication skills Entry level Full Job Description Job Summary As an assistant, you are responsible for assisting in providing high-quality care throughout the surgical process. Assist patients with questions and concerns. Communicate directly and effectively with surgical facilities, surgeons, and surgical team. The position reports directly to the Practice Administrator and Surgical Manager. Duties Request surgical authorizations and ensure all are obtained before surgery. Submit surgery bookings to facilities and maintain contact with surgical centers regarding patients. Verify insurances and submit special orders to the facility as needed. Ensure surgery drops are called into the pharmacy. Keep patient records up to date, including EMA sticky notes and ocular history. Assure surgical consents are signed and uploaded in CareCloud. Document patient communications and attach authorizations in CareCloud appointments. Collect, post, and distribute surgical payments and input simple charges correctly into CareCloud. Assist with surgical queue calls and answer emails within 24-48 hours. Upload operative reports into EMA after surgery completion. Obtain medical clearances, including pacemaker, dialysis, and cardiac reports, to prevent cancellations. Call post-op patients to check on their recovery and assist with follow-ups. Assist with surgical coordination as needed. Assist with translations and patient communication, as needed. Maintain follow-ups with patients and primary care doctors to prevent cancellations. Help move and reschedule appointments as needed. Support the surgical coordinator with pending tasks, phone calls, and preparing surgical charts. Assist with signing consent paperwork and ensure HIPAA compliance. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must speak fluent Spanish to assist with patient communications and translations. Moderate knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Strong computer literacy. Highly organized, proactive, attentive to details and goal oriented. Ability to work independently and be self-directed and flexible. Ability to prioritize. Ability to work at a high-volume level of accuracy. Ability to adapt easily to changing conditions and work responsibilities. Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time Pay:

$15.00 – $17.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
